Behind the Treats

Here For The Treats was born out of a love for all animals and the desire to capture a lasting image of as many of those personalities as possible.  As we look back thru the hundreds of photos of our dogs most of best photos are from the final years with our past family members. Our goal is to give people an opportunity to capture quality images as early and often as possible to enjoy today and provide good memories for years to come.  

My name is Joe Yonkman and I’ll be your photographer for this adventure. I’ve been interested in photography back to the film days but really became serious in 2019 when I found a love for bird and wildlife photography. With several loving and willing canine models at home, this passion gradually grew from wildlife to dog life, and from backyard to studio work.

My partner in this adventure is Mary-Ladd. She will be helping on the other side of the lens to position, encourage, and probably snuggle our furry models. Her love of all animals shows in every interaction and those animals are drawn to her without exception. Mary-Ladd grew up with dogs, horses, and any other animals who needed a home along the way. That experience is essential in the process of making each animal comfortable to show their best selves.
